Many Happy Returns

Hello all!

I'm back, and ready to tell you all about what happened while I was in college. Well, at least as far as costuming is concerned... I'll keep this post short, though.

From one summer,
after dressing the mannequins,
while transitioning from internship to real job.

My hometown is celebrating its 300th anniversary this year and I make a small cameo in these videos. I'm in 18th century clothing (of course) and dancing! The clips I appear in are either from Dover's Market Fair or from a filming I agreed to be a part of. It's my three seconds of fame (combined, I'm sure) and if you blink, you'll miss it!

Hello Again!

I'm back from college! Everything went really well, and I'm excited about where I'll be living this coming fall. My friends are lovely and so was college, but it's good to be home.
I've actually been back for a little while... Which has been long enough to go and perform English Country Dancing at a couple of events that I'll recount for you eventually.
Also, some fantastic news: I'm starting my internship as a Historical Interpreter (third person, not first) on the 2nd! I'll be wearing my 18th century clothes much more often, which means I'm going to be doing some sewing asap so I can improve and expand my wardrobe.
I've gotten interested in more vintage fashion, so you may expect more of that kind of thing on this blog!

Hello and Welcome!

Greetings, salutations, and other forms of hello! Welcome to my blog. I'm eighteen years old and trying to navigate my way through life and through different eras of time. I intend to accomplish the latter by sewing outfits inspired by, or accurate to, certain periods of time.

I'm currently preparing for a Great Gasby-themed graduation/birthday party. I'm so excited! I think I bought perfect fabric and everything, I just need to adjust a pattern and figure out the skirting, then I'm golden.

At the moment, I'm in love with fashions from the end of the eighteenth century (about 1765-1799), the beginning of the nineteenth century (1800-1825-ish), the middle of the nineteenth century (1850-1869) \, the beginning of the twentieth century (1900-1919), the 1920's and the 1950's. I hope to be able to recreate or approximate fashion from all those time periods before I go to college at the end of the summer. In addition, I will also endeavor to create clothing that is wearable in my day-to-day life.

I'm planning for this to not only be a journal of my journey as a seamstress but also a journal of my journey as I grow as a person. Thank you for reading this far, and I hope you continue to.
